On 18 March 2021, an online hands-on training session about integrated simulation modelling for land use and transport was held between Kasetsart University, Kagawa University and the Technical University of Munich (TUM). The training used two simulation models: Simple Integrated Land-use Orchestrator (SILO) and Multi-Agent Transport Simulation (MATSim). With the aid of these simulation models, the project generates estimates of future population and transportation demand in Bangkok. In the training session, Prof. Dr. Rolf Moeckel of TUM introduced an outline of SILO, then Dr. Carlos Llorca Garcia presented the SILO and MATSim methodologies. A Land Use Model was demonstrated, showing simulations from 2015 to 2050 for Bangkok, and a question-and-answer session took place with Dr. Varameth Vichiensan and his laboratory students at Kasetsart University. Dr. Varameth’s team is inputting additional parameters to the Land Use Model, towards developing a simulation model integrating land use with transport demands in Bangkok.
